News Consumption

In the days of old, consumption of news, or things deemed worthy to be informative to the people was often found in formats that are quickly sliding into the past. Formats such as print advertisements, magazines, and even print newspapers are quickly loosing their edge to the digital age.

Now news consumption is accessed across a broad selection of digital platforms such as Google, Yahoo! News, social media and more. In a digital news report in 2015 (Hand, 2018) , it was found that individuals consume news more in the following ways:

  • 11% paid for news online
  • 26% accessed it thru a smart phone
  • 32% shared news stories through email and social media
(Hand, 2018). News consumption has changed because we now often don't even garner it from newsworthy sites. We see news without seeking out news via our platform of choice.

How do you consume news? Are you of the age who still purchases a newspaper, as my own parents do? I have vast memories of every single morning watching my mother reading the news. Hearing the  rustle of paper is one of my childhood memories, even if it was the rustling of paper as my brother and I fought over the Sunday comics. Or are you in deep in the throes of the digital age and you don't read or consume news unless it's given to you on your preferred platform of choice!

It then delved into radio and television and all of the news and information we could now glean from hearing or watching. Now as we progress in a very digital age, the style in which we communicate is more sophisticated and progressive that you have to keep up or be left behind. Now in the "new" style you can watch "TV" on social media platforms. You can use YouTube, Instagram, Facebook via your digital tablet, your computer, your smartphone, and m

    Live Streaming

Viewing movies and television has come a long way in how accessible it is. In the past, if we wanted to watch a movie we'd have to go purchase or rent the DVD. If it was a new movie, you'd have to go to the theater to watch it, or wait for it's DVD to come up for rent or purchase.  How things have changed in how we view these items. Now the options of live streaming services are easily accessible and at the ready. You can instantly view content via your phone, your computer, your tablet, or on your television if you have a smart TV.  Applications such as Hulu, Netflix and YouTube TV to name a few allow us the access to view as much content as we choose for one small fee.  We no longer have to go anywhere to purchase or rent movies. The easily accessible streaming services available to us allow us to change our consumption. Technology has advanced so readily that even the way in which movies are produced as changed.  How do you view your content? Are
